Preservation FAQs
How long does preservation take?
Typically, flowers take an average of 1 month to fully press out. Every flower is different, but that is an average. I allot for 3-4 months to deliver your finished piece to you.
How does pressing work?
Pressing is the process of removing the moisture from flowers to allow for the preservation of shape and color. This happens in a flower press, which is typically cardboard with 2 pieces of paper between them, all sandwiched together between 2 pieces of wood.
Can you press dried flowers?
Sadly, the pressing process only works on live blooms. Most dried flowers will simply crumble in the press.
I just got married and still have my bouquet, is it too late?
If your wedding has been within the last few days, it may not be too late. As long as the flowers were kept in water they can likely still be pressed. In order to ensure the best product, I will need to see photos before agreeing to press the bouquet. A last minute fee of $25 (for bookings at least 1 week before the wedding) or $50 (for bookings after the wedding) will be included in these cases.
I didn’t know about preservation when I got married, is it too late?
No! I offer post-event preservation by using photos to recreate your bouquet. There is an additional fee associated with this and the timeframe is a bit longer than traditional preservations.
How far out should I reserve my spot?
You should book your preservation like you would any vendor. It is ideal to have your florist booked first, as I require some details about your bouquet at booking. While preservation does allow for multiple bookings in a weekend, there is a limit to how many I accept.
What is the process for reserving my spot?
Reach out to me via the contact page and I will gather information about your wedding date and bouquet, as well as send the pricing guide. Once you decide on your package, I send a contract for signature, then an invoice to pay the booking deposit.
I am getting married in Alaska, but I live elsewhere, can I still book with you?
Yes! I offer shipping of finished pieces to wherever you live. Shipping fees are $45 for an 8x10 and $55 for an 11x14.
What is your pricing?
Preservation packages start at $325.
Do I get a say in the final design?
Yes! Once the flowers are pressed, I send you 2-3 layout options to pick from.
Does the piece include all the flowers from my bouquet?
No, the pressing process can be unpredictable, so it is necessary to press more flowers than will be used. It also allows for variation in the layout options. I will send back any unused pressed flowers with your finished piece.
